One of the foremost architectural wonders of the world, Angkor was built by the Khmer empire between 802 and 1432 A.D. It was virtually inaccessible from the late 1960's through the late 1990's due to war and the brutal Khmer Rouge regime, but recently, tourism has returned to Cambodia.
